The host of the 2027 FIS World Nordic Ski Championships convened a Coordination Group meeting last week in Falun (SWE). As requested during the previous meeting with FIS in September last year, the Local Organizing Committee has made progress in the sports organisation by appointing two key positions: Tomas Jons has joined the team as Chief of Competition Cross-Country, and Per Busk as Chief of Competition Ski Jumping and Nordic Combined.

The FIS delegation, including Secretary General Michel Vion, Sport and Event Director Sandra Spitz, Chief Commercial Director Christian Salomon, and the Race Directors for Cross-Country, Ski Jumping (Women and Men), and Nordic Combined, visited the various venues at Lugnet 2027, which offer interesting opportunities.

Falun has a very good base to build upon, but I encourage Falun and the FIS Team not to lay back but instead to intensively work on the project to create another outstanding Nordic Ski Festival for Falun, Sweden and the entire Ski and Snowboard Family.Sandra Spitz, FIS Sport and Event Director

Falun 2027 aims to deliver a new and innovative skiing experience once again for competitors, spectators, and TV viewers. To achieve this and to create something memorable and noteworthy for the future, Falun 2027 will collaborate with Tension Graphics/Tension Onsite Sport, a company based in Falun. During the meeting, Magnus Björkman from Tension Graphics/Tension Onsite Sport presented an inspiring approach for how Falun 2027 could utilize gamification to develop and offer new experiences.

The discussions regarding the Hosting Contract could also continue during the various meetings held in Falun.

We have had constructive and good discussions regarding the Hosting Contract, and I feel that all parties are working together to clarify every part of the agreement. The meeting days with FIS have been fruitful and we now look forward to the continued journey together.Sara Tigerström Monfelt, Falun 2027

The next Coordination Group meeting will be held in Autumn 2024.
